There has been some talk (on and off) of supplements that can 'blunt' cortisol. I assume that of these supplements, some inhibit the production of cortisol and some reduce it's effects. My question is 'what can we do about stress and cortisol, including supplements, lifestyle and dietary choices?'

I realise that's a big question, with an enormous answer, so this thread has the potential to spiral out of control, but I think it's an important issue that affects us all and so well worth addressing.

Before I dig around for the documents I've saved on my PC somewhere and look through all the links I've saved to incomprehensible studies, one thing immediately pops to mind - make sure you get adequet sleep. Interupted or insufficent sleep is a big cause of cortisol release.

Have to bear in mind though that cortisol is not necessarily a hormone to be avoided at all costs. In short bursts, when faced with sudden need for action, it clarifys the thought process and makes blood sugar immediately available. Also, if I remember correctly, it helps you wake up in the morning and in stress recovery so you wouldn't want to shut the production off completely.

Yes, yes and yes! That's why I cringe every time I read that someone sets an alarm clock to wake them in the middle of the night so they can eat, lest their muscles wither away through malnutrition. Ye Gods!

What do you mean by cortisol modulator specifically?

It is a Cortisol Modulator, meaning that if your cortisol is too low it will help you raise it and if too high, it will help you lower it. Take only 1 tab per day, as it is very potent.

I've got to agree with that statement about it being potent. Massively under rated supplement!
