Insulin is not that good for lean muscle growth.
The ladder of success is never crowded at the top
Well basically insulin inhibits growth hormone release, so with too much insulin you will never acheive the cut look, and insulinn has also been linked to fat around the abdomen.

yes the whole point is to manipulate it for your benifit you will get fat if you spike it at the wrong time ie before bed but if you do it when its sensitve it can be the most effective fat loss musclebuilding tool there is

I agree with yazsas, insulin is only anabolic in one department - fat deposition!
The whole bodybuilding lore about insulin grew out of recreational use of exogenous insulin injections meant for diabetics. There is no convincing study that shows manipulation of endogenous insulin release [outside of laboratory controlled conditions & procedures] does anything for muscle growth.
Talking in purely scientific terms, insulin is a storage hormone - principally for storing glucose but also amino acids - and works on a 'whole body basis'. Protein synthesis for muscle tissue growth occurs specifically in the muscles exercised and this tissue will typically signal that it is full after absorbing as little as 3.5g of amino acids, so insulin is not really required for such a small amount. Glycogen depleted muscles will also readily absorb glucose in order to replenish glycogen without the aid of insulin and will supercompensate at any point carbs are ingested upto 72 hours after being depleted. As yazsas has said, spiking insulin immediately after training by taking high GI carbs just to replenish glycogen blunts all the REAL anabolic hormones while doing it to facilitate protein synthesis is a bit like deliberately putting a hole in your boat then bailing it out with a teaspoon!
