hah, thought it said 'sheep' then.

You sleep in cycles, 3 hours or there abouts you will generally wake up after a cycle is finished so once a night shouldn't be a problem.

It's when you are woken up mid cycle or before you can get into deep cycle continously that is a problem such as with sleep aponea or is you wake yourself up in the middle of the night using an alarm for a protein shake, which nu has been posting his dissaproval of recently.

So better to drink plenty of water before bed if you want a middle of the night protein and fat shake.

middle of the night protein and fat shake.
I really don't believe anyone needs a protein shake right in the middle of the night. One before bed is sufficient.

The human body is not designed to be eating right in the middle of your nightly sleep anyway.

I agree. A casein and whey shake with a little fat should be plenty to see you through the night. People who wake themselves up for some protein in the middle of the night are nuts and going too far imho.

Agreed, having food in the middle of the night will probably reduce any gains for bodybuilding due to disruption of natural fasting processes and endocrine/sleep patterns from increased blood sugar etc, let alone general health, if you are constantly in a fed state it is very bad for your health.

    Agreed.

It's like ripping the accelerator out of your car, then filling the tank with fuel, and still expecting it to run properly.

We all know plants need light for photosynthesis, but it's been shown that if you artificially expose them to light continuously they go wonky and don't develop propperly. It's no surprise that if you wake yourself up in the middle of the night to eat, you're not doing yourself any favours.

I used to wake up needing the toilet regularly, so for the past year or so I've avoided fluids toward bedtime. For that reason, I never really got on with the idea of a bedtime shake. Reading Nu's posts have turned me away from the idea that I'll waste away after a couple of hours without food anyway. Look at it from the point of view of hunter-gatherer eating habits and the idea's absolute garbage.

Just stop drinking things a couple of hourse before bed and if you really think you need some nutritional support for the strenuous sleeping you're going to be putting your body through, eat a little bit of cheese.
Green's a very suspicious colour for food....

Sorry fella's it works, 50g whey 100ml raw cream + water.

I can't argue with the results I'd rather dump pre/post workout nutrition than this shake. Usually wake up after 5-6 hours sleep drink it, then sleep another 3, guess it may depend on your body type but if your ecto give it ago you won't be disapointed in the results.

5-6 hours is long enough to be with out food IMO.
