I didn't say not to bother, I just said it would be harder.

But with the attitude you seem to have about it, Personally I dont think you should bother, I'm not trying to put you down in any way, but you don't seem to have a passion for it.

I mean, you should at least have some intention to quit smoking, but from you posts, it doesnt seem that you have any intention to do so at all. It's as if you are trying to work training around your life when it should actually be the other way round if you want to see good results.

I smoked for 14years, pretty heavily. One day i got an email from a good mate explaining why he hadn't been in touch for a while. It was because he was going through chemotherapy due to cancer. He smoked for the same length of time as me, and just as heavily. I quit smoking right there and then. It was far easier than i ever thought it would be and i wish i'd done it years ago. I used the nico-gum to help me through it, that stuff is great. Since quitting i enjoy my gym sessions far more and feel that i get more out of it and i also recover quicker too. Oh yeah, and the extra £150 a month comes in handy too. I look at it as if i've given myself a £1800 pay rise. Since then i've bought an expensive sports car, so now i simply can't afford to smoke, but i look ace driving into the gym car park!
Do yourself a favour mate, pack 'em in and get on with living a healthier more rewarding life.

never really smoked, so cant really comment.

can you try and have one less cig each day? im going on the principle of slowly weaning yourself off. space out the time inbetween cigs.

agree with the preious posters, working out is a way of life. you make time to workout.

sacrifices are made. im a uni student and have sacrificed making more friends by not going out, drinking, smoking. some people see me as weird, but i do it for my health and for my sport.

Stamina was never an issue, probably because I had and still have an overwhelming desire to train. I eventually weened myself off of them although I was never smoking more than 10 a day and 20 on a saturday night.

Can't tell you how great it is to have kicked the habit though.

Do yourself a favour and knock it on the head mate.
