Good thread but in all honesty if i didn't overtrain i would be where i am at the moment. I know obviously doin it all the time is not a good thing but once or twice a month i use to deliberately overtrain to find my potential. As long as you have a 15minute ice bath after which is unbareable it should help with healing.

True 'overtraining' is a rare thing unless you are a full time athlete doing hours of training near daily, and it is an insidious chronic issue that can take years to develop and possibly many months to recover from in the most severe cases. Most people will mistake overreaching for overtraining which is nowhere near as severe.

I agree. Over-reaching is a useful training tool, as it may allow a good rebound effect (if you believe in the supercompensation curve).
I would say I suffered from mild overtraining type issues in 2010, and it lasted for about 3-4 months.
