    This has creeped into my reading recently and its promised as a "miracle supplement" Im not buying into that; but ive seen the research conducted by several universities and it seems very impressive.

    When i first read up about it, it seemed like another antioxidant supplement however upon further reading its not a consumable antioxident. It contains phytonutrients which are designed to signal your cells to produce powerful antioxidant enzymes which neutralize more free radicals than consumable antioxidants.

    At this point it was the classic, "well it sounds impressive but is it nonsense claims?" Its actually not a new supplement and was available for 6 years previous to this; however no research was conducted on it; so it was just claims and there was no reason for anybody to purchase it. Well its been recently researched and heres some of that research:

    Theres some of the research conducted. You'll notice its mainly about cancer prevention and anti aging but its meant to increase athletic performance by shortening recovery times. I found research behind that but i should have saved it to my favourites! Ill go on the hunt again.

    What are your views on this? Ive read some testimonials from people who have used the product and they correlated it with increased strength and performance.

    Scam? Placebo? Fact?

    If you want a summary heres the wiki on it.

    Unfortuntely the makers have no plans to export it from the USA at present. They won't even ship a private order abroad. I have already tried talking to them but to no avail.

    Still, it wont be long before the Russian version hits the European market!

    Am I missing something here? Accroding to the Wiki page, the ingredients are:

    - silymarin from Silybum marianum (milk thistle).[13]
    - curcumin from Curcuma Ionga (turmeric).[14]
    - polyphenolics from Camellia sinensis (green tea).
    - bacopasides from Bacopa monniera. (Indian Water Hyssup)
    - withanolides from Withania somnifera. (Indian Ginseng or ashwagandha)

    Now the first 3 I'm sure anyone who has been around here for a while should be familar with anyway, they are also widely available already either in wholefood or supplement form. I take Milk thistle before and after drinking, drink green most days, and I've heard tumeric extract is a great anti-inflammatory supp.

    I'm not so familar with the last 2 ingredients however, I know Ripped Barbarian on here used to be a fan of Ashwagandha and it's properties are similar to the more well known Siberian Ginseng.

    Now I'm pretty sure this stuff will come with an expensive price tag, and I'm pretty sure you could dose most of the above effectively already from uk stockists of herbal extracts if you were really that keen.

    Taken from one of the above studies:

    The dietary supplement Protandim (Lifeline Therapeutics, Inc., Denver, CO, USA) was provided as a once daily capsule of 675 mg, consisting of the following:

    B. monniera (45% bacosides), 150 mg;
    S. marianum (70–80% silymarin), 225 mg;
    W. somnifera powder, 150 mg;
    green tea, 98%polyphenols and 45% ()-epigallocatechin-3-gallate, 75 mg;
    and turmeric (95% curcumin), 75 mg.
    I'm convinced you could supplement most of them yourself, and quite economically at that.

    They addressed this in an interview i listened to somewhere. (blog on itunes i think) I thought of doing this as i have a few of them in the cupboard but they mentioned something about binding agents (which we obviously dont have) Im still not sure if thats a cover story so people buy their product and not each individual component. It is ruddy expensive though! $50 for a months supply! Couldnt afford it if they shipped to the UK anyway!

    Reading the results of experimentation i wouldnt mind giving it a try. I might see how expensive the ingredients are in total and might go about DIY'ing it.

    Just an other marketing joke, there are dozens of plants having the same effect. Don't you think it is weird to see no new plants in this blend or let's say at least unknown from the public. Furthermore the amount of active ingredient is extremly low. This is simply an other company getting into the "let's surf the wave of natural health and make good money ! ! !.
    It is like selling water with some green tea extract and chromium to help fat metabolism, mouha ha ha ha !

    I have to admit I was a bit skeptical. I read some studies that have come out in the last year on Protandim, and so I gave it a try. The one that caught my eye was the cancer study. I saw a video on a pro weight lifter using Protandim, so I figured, it either works or not... what the hell...

    I work out a lot. After about 2 months I noticed that my ability to recover went up dramatically. I measure this stuff too, my between sets and between workouts was improved a lot.

    I bought some extra and got it to my mom, and she's older, so I figure, lets test it on her. Her arthritis is gone, and she says she feels a ton better., and she's more skeptical than I am.

    It took me a while to get a good place to buy Protandim, but I found it from a website by searching for "Protandim UK Free Shipping", which was £31.00 with free shipping, and when you buy many bottles at once, it's cheaper.

    There are two sites that sell it to the UK, one offers free shipping the other doesn't, the free shipping one is the one I did, its a much better price.
