Saturated fat, carbohydrates and cardiovascular d... [Neth J Med. 2011] - PubMed - NCBI

Now, here at the forums we are generally clued up folks, but I thought this was great - especially in regards to the recent rubbish about saturated fat tax...

Oh look at that, saturated fat DOESN'T cause cardiovascular disease or increase cholesterol to dangerous levels... what's that? Cheap processed carbohydrates do? Well I would never of guessed that!

Again, more media bulls**t, even whilst the CLINICAL research stares everyone right in the face.

'However, replacing a combination of SAFA and trans-fatty acids with n-6 PUFA (notably linoleic acid) in controlled trials showed no indication of benefit and a signal toward increased coronary heart disease risk, suggesting that n-3 PUFA may be responsible for the protective association between total PUFA and CVD.'
Basically, means having stupid stuff like lots of nuts, veggie oils and other plant fats is detrimental when compared to eating a big fatty red meat steak, WHOLE eggs or massive lumps of cheese - which are actually GREAT for you.

Thought this might get this section of the forums moving again

Now why aren't the government and dietary health quangos not taking heed of these studies when doling out dietary advice? Oh, yes - commercial entities like Coca-Cola and McDonalds have a big say on such advisory panels!
