Methylene blue - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've been heaqring about this stuff on various life extension and alternative medicine forums and sites.
Comercially, its mainly used mainly as a chemical reaction tracer in school chemistry classes, and to kill fungal infections in fish.
But medically it have been used to treat all kinds of neurological illnesses, blood disorders, and also chemical and mineral poisoning.
Check this out:

However, it seems that people have been using it pro-actively for all kinds of things, such as a nootropic, to kill sytemic fungal infections, and some people are even touting it to be anti-carcinogenic.
This stuff is dirt cheap, has a very good safety / toxicology record, and is easy to get hold of from aquarium supplies, and school chemistry lab supplies.
The only danger i can see from it is if it is used simultaneouly with serotonergic psychiatric medications, because Methylene blue is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), and if it was taken with such medications it could trigger Serotonin Syndrome.
