Hardly any meat and all carbs? Could be the source of your problem!

Sounds like your intake is still exceeding your expenditure if you're doing cardio and retaining the flab.

Structured diet in order along side your shakes & training.

    Good luck.

You can supplement like mad , but there is no real substitute for good food . Can't you offer to help your mum cook and say you are on a "special" diet ?

You can then add protein and fat sources like cheese , eggs , cream etc to your dish alone .

When you go out or buy food yourself , eat sliced ham , chicken , turkey from the deli-counter (tends to be less processed and less salty than packaged ones) .

Also , blend a protein shake with full fat milk , eggs (or MP liquid egg whites) , protein powder of your choice , walnut oil etc if you are are busy .

As you'll see on this forum , fat is not your enemy if you keep the breads and pastas to a minimum . Try and get your carbs from fresh fruit , green cruciferous vegetables and well cooked oats .

meat is a no no really i could get away with canned tuna if that works, i have weetabix for breakfast and a shake with full skimmed milk, lunch is normally a cheese based sandwich with a piece of fruit and a shake, and dinner is usually pasta, spaghetti, or just something quick in the oven!

I'm going to be completely honest, so please don't take offense, but I think you're making a big mistake trying to get rid of your belly when you only weigh 9 stone. A few thoughts for you to ponder:

    * Much of your belly could be due to poor posture.

    * All of the internal organs will bear down and bulge out at that point thanks to gravity. It's normal for it to stick out a bit when you're relaxed.

    * As you're so light, any excess fat will show up more. If you were to pack on some extra muscle with no fat gain you'd look slimmer.

At it's simplest level I'd advise you to lift heavy weights and eat more (I'm serious). The other guys are on the money with the carbs, too. Swap the pasta and breads for fish, nuts, cheese, etc.

Also, a little tip if you're living in a veggie household. MP do a pea protein that goes really well in soups. I introduced my veggie mum to it and she uses it in loads of her cooking now.

Cosmic Fish is on the money!

Bulking is the way to go for sure...its way more fun than cutting and even if you put on some fat its hardly going to be noticeable with your shirt on at that weight. Your visible gut is probably just a result of the rest of your body being undersized. Do a heavy all body routine 3 times a week and watch your muscle mass and strength increase!

Now, on to diet, currently you're getting the opposite of what you need. You want a high protein / high fat / low carb approach. This is because carbs make you fat, protein is needed for muscle growth and repair and dietary fat is a great slow burning source of energy. This is more difficult to achieve without meat, but dairy foods are a great place to start. A diet with lots of full fat milk (ditch the skimmed!!!), full fat yoghurts, whey protein and eggs is the way to go.

would you say ive made a mistake in buying the total MRP due to carb content, i plan on having 2 or 3 a day in between meals. maybe i shoulda gone with the total protein xs? if anybody wants to take that MRP off my hands they can have it its got 36g of carbohydrate per serving, i think im gonna get some true whey with 19g of protein and only 1.8g carbs.
