If you want to get big (naturally) as quick as possible without considering your health or the nutritional value of what you eat then follow the advice in this article. If you don't want to get big in a hurry then I suggest taking a bit more care and consideration over what you eat, spend a bit of time researching what different foods do to you and how your body utilises the different macro's and nutrients you ingest.

You'll find what works for one doesnt allways work for you, it takes a while of trial and error. Hey even the three posters on here who IMO are the most clued up on nutrition can't even agree,
Thing is Dave, finding what works for you can take years. Do people at 60kg bodyweight want to spend years spinning their wheels figuring this out, or actually build some muscles?

The health implications of eating big are waaay overstated, I've posted studies on here before showing the hormonal responses to calorie and macro matched "junk" and "clean" foods are identical, the only difference is nutrient content. If your eating a load of food, chances are you're getting plenty of nutrients anyway, and thus a bit of junk food can help you hit calorie targets necessary to grow.

So the question comes back to this: "Do you want to stay skinny?"
"Rather than worrying about insulin, you should worry about whatever diet works the best for you in regards to satiety and sustainability."

The whole fitness industry (commercial) is just a big con really, I could expose some of the things that go on that I have witnessed and also done. I also know that one of the models for men’s health said he use to do a six day split with gimmicky exercises and what he really did to get the body he wanted was just basic compound stuff lol....can't mention a name.

Pretty true but I dont agree with the symmetry thing.... if you have a smaller arm or a smaller pec etc you can train that harder.... and even it out... Other than that good article though..

On the whole, I agree. Personally, however, I'm happy spending the time learning what works for me and adding mass slowly.

Good to know. I never really worry about what I eat, most of the time I do stick to quality foods but I dont turn down an invitation out to meal or a bit of cake on someones birthday - its all calories at the end of the day.

One would only have to spend a weekend following what I eat to realise that junk food has it's merits

Sorry WOFD, I'm another against the whole 'we're all different' theory. We're not! We're 99.9% all the same but the sales pitches, Ronnie Coleman workout books, fad diets etc wouldn't sell year after year if they told us the truth...

Im starting to fold into that too, especially after seeing what Mariusz Pudzianowski eats like too. His diet is what you would expect a suicide-by-food person to eat

I eat clean and I wouldn't rely on junk to make up calories apart from one cheat meal/day per week. If I needed say another 1000kcals per day I think the much much better way is to make a massive gainer shake with full fat milk, cream and protein powder. When you need to eventually scale down your calories it is a lot easier to come off shakes that have got a 1000kcals than breaking your junk food habit you've given yourself after eating poorly for years. Obviously if you have the discipline and you go the junk bulk route but realise that it can't go on forever then that is ok, as long as you do actually come off the junk food at some point. Anyone else know a dozen big guys over 30 all with a belly to match?
