I've recently added some barbell rows to my stronglifts routine (having done inverted rows before)

It's being going well, but I seem to get serious stiffness just below the neck either side of the spine. It's at its peek about 30 hours after doing the exercise.

Does that mean I'm doing something wrong? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

    Thanks in advance.

Your title says 'neck', your post says 'below the neck', two very different things. Which is it, my friend?

If it is in fact where you stated in your post, then don't worry about it -- I currently have the exact same thing, from the exact same exercise! It is what is referred to as 'Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness', or 'DOMS' for short.

Oh yeah, I find that gently stretching my muscles out helps.

    Thanks Odevans,

Apologies for my lack of clarity. It is at the top part of my back. I still seem to get quite a lot of pain there, even when I stretch before and after. What streches do you do? The only 'move' I can think of that stretches the right area begins with my arms in a wide press up position and then stooping my back to elongate the stiff area. This probably makes no sense!

Any other thoughts on how to resolve this would be appreciated. I like barbell rows and don't want this to stop me from doing them.

How is your form? Could be down to your upper back/shoulders rounding whilst lifting the weight maybe. A foam roller helped me with that quite a lot when I experienced some similar discomfort.
