You can make some improvements in your diet. I'd recommend trying to get more protein through food and getting rid of some of the crap before spending cash on protein shakes.
Hi,
Im New to the Forum,
Needing Advice, I've read quite alot of the Threads regarding Protein/whey drinks etc, Just Confused really, I read Spiderdans Beginners Guide that was very informative.
I've been doing Beachbody's Turbofire exclusively for 11 weeks, Ive lost about stone since january, in my first round of TF (4-Weeks) I noticed the measurements more than the pounds lost, about 6inches in total, But Since then im Just in Limbo Weight wise since April is about 5lbs, I know that if I am Gaining Muscle at all the scales Would Change very slowely but in the last 6 weeks ive Lost 1inch total.
I lost more weight faster Just by doing No exercise & Doing the Slimmingworld diet.
My Diet isnt to bad But obviously Could be better, as I would be atleast a stone lighter or way More inches Lost!!
things I tend to eat
Breakfast: Usually Shredded wheat/Milled Oats/asda Cheapy Cornflakes with Banana or Sweetner & Cuppa with Sweetner
Snackwise: Not really a snacker, Could be Piece of fruit, Popcorn, Rice Pudding, Advocado with Peach/cream, Toast with Spread.
Lunch/Dinner: Carbs/Veggie Based, Like tomato Pasta, Broccoli Quiche, Rice Noodles With a cream/Tomato based sauce & Veg, Fishfingers, Beans, Toast, Wedges, Sweet Tatty mash, the Odd/rare takeout (Garlic-bread an cheese or Chips)
Seldom Drink alcohol, probs twice a yearDrink tea alot & water.
I think my weakness's can be Not always Stopping when im full or Getting hungry/eating late!
I tend to get hungry around 9:30/10:00pm & even if I tried going bed early it will eventually wake me up![]()
So What I think Is needed In my Diet Apart from Reduced Carbs, is Protein, & I really Love the Idea of Protein shakes, But I get Confused with which One do I chose? Which Is right for First thing in the Morning, I workout in afternoon Because thats when Im most Plyable/ready Once my Toddler Is sorted Napping or Settled So which Shake is ideal for After workout? that's when im really ready to eat & I end up going either for the easy option &/or Carby Option, & then I read that People tend to have a shake in the evening, Which Would Be ideal for me because I really dont Like eating after 9pm say!
I understand that its difficult to gain muscle lose weight/lose weight gain muscle
btw Have a BMI of 29.2
Kind Regards![]()

you really need to work out how much protein you are actually having before you cant decide if you need to supplement on a shake. have you worked this out?
plus to need to cut all the processed crap like
Shredded wheat, asda Cheapy Cornflakes, Popcorn, Rice Pudding, Toast with Spread, Fishfingers, Beans, Toast, Wedges, and I would cut the pasta and noodles too.
as a starter i would take a look at the beginner stickies to get a better idea of things and they should answer most of your questions.
ps welcome to the forums.
You would lose weight faster not doing exercise as you would be losing muscle tissue also, when you are training you are both losing fat and gaining lean tissue, i.e. muscle mass. Do not go by the scales, but by how you look and feel!![]()

Shredded wheat and stuff like that really shouldn't be included in a weight loss diet IMO. Carbs are very easy to mess up, they should always be looked at with suspicion. A lot of people use carbs around their workout or on refeeds and ease up on them at other times in the day - I personally do this as well. A protein shake in the evening (if you aren't hitting your protein quota) will help keep your hunger at bay and won't be stored as fat so easily as carbs.
Try to record your food intake tomorrow and post it on here and we can have a look at it - the other guys know more about this kind of thing, but I am picking a few things up and should be able to contribute.
