Hi guys, newbie questions alert, hoping someone can help me!!

Quick intro, I'm a 32 year old male, very active (have 3 young kids) and currently weigh 14st

I recently joined a gym that I go to on weekday mornings for an hour before work, doing a mixture of cardio & weights.

Upon a recommendation from a body builder friend, I purchase the impact whey isolate from MP to assist with weight loss. I have been taking it for about 2 weeks now and have lost 2lb.

I'm just not sure if what I am doing is correct...

I get up in the morning and make a shake, either with water or milk. I use approx 250ml (8oz) with one large scoop of powder (70cc). Drink that then off to the gym for an hour. When I get into work I have some porridge with honey for breakfast (made with water) then a sandwich or whatever for lunch, then a evening meal with my family at night, then another shake later on..

    My questions are:
Am I making the shake correctly?
Should I take the shake before or after the gym in the morning?
Should I take the shake to replace my porridge breakfast or to complement it?

I would really appreciate any feedback you can give me!!!!

    a quick reply;

I personally drink the shake straight after my workout to feed my muscles - especially after weight sessions to aid recovery..
You're making the shake correctly. The amount of powder/milk or water you use is down to personal preference, depending on how thick you like it.
I'd say dont replace the shake with your breakfast- breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Im sure you'll get more detailed replies once fellow members are awake

use the isolate after the gym session, if you are after losing weight then try and train fasted. Try some black coffee to get you going. After your shake just eat wholefoods with a good amount of protein. Only drink another shake if you cant get enough protein. Eat under your maintenance calories and you will get there! ?Very rough advice but will get you going the right way.

you're making hte shake right s gucci said. amount of liquid is down to preference, less liquid= thicker shake.

personally i woudln't bother with isolate unless you are lactose intolerant or competing. standard impact whey does the job just as well and is cheaper. remember that protein shakes arent magic. it is your diet that is the key.

    Hi

Make it as thick as you like it. Have it when you feel like having it, I have tried before and after, within 20 minutes, after 3 hrs, and just about ever time fragment in between. It does not matter, well at least not for me, and at least not until you are really down to the wire. Don't use it to REPLACE food use it to SUPPLEMENT the food.
