You've pumped a lot of blood into the triceps from your compund exercises so you might as well finish the job. I train chest & tris. After heavy incline press, chest press & flys, my tris are pre exhausted, i just do close grip bench on the smith machine for mass (smith machine really isolates the tricep) and some push dwons finish the job!

Just a idea, but how close is your grip when doing Bench Press? You may have the grip just a little too close together and thus hitting the triceps just a bit too hard. Try a slightly wider grip and see if that helps.

I find it's the little things like this that can make a world of difference to a workout sometimes.

You could also try just doing a set or 2 of cable cross-overs or flyes to give your chest more of a warm-up. I find I can get much better feel in my pec's when Bench Pressing if I do this first.

Like Bison says, warming the muscle up or getting it more full of blood may allow you to 'feel' the exercise more and therefore target the muscle better. Another option is pre-exhastion training, i.e. starting with a pec isolation exercise then doing the more compound movement so all areas fail more 'syncronously' Personally i'd stick with what your doing and i'm sure your body will adapt soon enough.....but do like meat said and really concentrate on the muscle your trying to train.

    Try that and this:

if you work chest twice a week, try to work it once heavy and other light. And try to work the triceps harder on light day after chest training and before delts.
