  1. Default Heat Shock Proteins! How useful?

How much Use do people consider heat shock protein synthesis to be? iIs this something that many would consider to be a very useful part of a post workout routine?

having recently been thinking of this, i came across a section of a post by Nrage, "turning off the catabolic switch" in which glutamine was discussed

    Quote Quote
    Gllutamine

Muscle cell concentrations of glutamine are far higher than blood levels. PLasma and intramuscular glutamine concentrations drop during metabolic stresses such as surgery, burns or trauma. Glutamine also increaes heat-shock proteins, which increase muscle hypertrophy. Heat-shock proteins are "celluar chaperones" involved in the management of stress-induced protein cell destruction. Glutamine depletion results in dminised synthesis of heat-shock proteins. Recently, Glutamine has been shown to increase heat-shock protein approximately fourfold in critical illnes. Glutamine can also increase tissue glutethione levels and enhance antioxidant capacity. The use of Glutamine seems to be especially warranted during dieting when caloric restriction, exercise frequency and exercise intensity are at their highest.

would it be fair to suggest that a warm bath or a steam room after training with a supplement regime to compliment could be a post training routine well worth following? often i see myself getting home after my whey and dextrose shake, getting straight into household guff and preparing my meal, when it could be allot more productive to get home and go for a warm bath first, with the right supplements

what’s peoples thoughts on this? and does anyone have such a routine in place already?

Wait, you're saying you should have glutamine and then a hot bath to try and 'burn' yourself?

Or did you mean the warm water will make microfractures in the muscle larger and hence shock it that way?
The temperature of the water will do nothing for heat shock proteins before you are either severely scalded or suffering from heat induced organ failure.
