    Why is it that on pushdowns, I could press heavier than bodyweight (as in 20-30kg more, but struggle alot more with dips?

    I'm guessing it's all to do with having to balance yourself on the dips?!

    its because of the mechanics of a pulley system. the weight lifted is not the true weight. it also depends on how smooth the cables run along the pulley.

    SO when I was pushing 90odd kg's, I wasn't actually!?

    God I hate cable machines!
