I am currently on a cutting diet looking to lose a few pounds and gain a bit of muscle and definition. I have sorted my diet ie: Protein, Carb and fat levels are correct (ish!)
When doing my weight training I do 3 sets of between 6-8 reps of heavy weight so Im pushing the last few etc, I have read though that it would be best to lower the weight a bit and do more reps for example 3 sets of 15 on a lower weight. What is the best to do?

people grow from different things but heavy weight 8-8 is generaly the best way to go for naturals. But you wont notice mutch difference as you wont be gaining much muscle on a cutting diet!!

you will get weight loss but from your past posts i have given the answer that you dont sound fat any way so i wouldnt get stressed about losing weight. A cut assumes that you have enough muscle to cut away the fat to reavel your hard work. When you return i would sugeest on gaining musclualr weight slowly otherwise whats the point of weight traing you can look lean for doing cardio

Maybe put up some pics so we can see why you need to cut.

But to answer your question i'd say up the reps, and cut the rest periods and like i've said in previous posts possibly train in a push/pull or agonist/antagonist style. Up the frequency of your training too if you can. I'm doing a mini cut at the moment and am training Upper/Lower/Off/Repeat. Sets are not supposed to be taken to faliure and rest periods are kept as short as possible.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers
Yesterday I did CHEST/TRICEPS which consisted of Bench Press 3 sets of 9 reps then Dumbell Flys 3 sets of 12 reps. Then I did Tricep Extension 3 sets of 12 reps and Close Grip Barbell 3 sets of 10 reps, does this slound an okay split. I play football tonight and tomorrow will be BI/SHOULDERS/BACK then next workout will be LEGS mainly and I do abs 3 times a week. How doers this sound?

IT sounds like an ok split but nothing that is going to benefit you greatly in terms of fat loss.

Martin What would you suggest then to gain maximum fat lost via doing weights as I do normally do a few more exercises with the 2 I mentioned above.
