Hi guys. Im 6ft, 71-72KG and I want to put on weight. At christmas i weighed like 69kg, so iv been doing ok doing what im doing now, which is just eat eat eat. My usual diet consists of this:

~10am - 2 slices of wholemeal bread, tin of beans, 2 eggs, salt and pepper (beans on toast)
~ 2pm - wholemeal pasta and tomato sauce
~5pm - fish fillet, oven chips, mushy peas
~10pm - tuna(full tin), mayo, sweetcorn sandwhiches (wholemeal bread)

with stuff like apples and biscuits as snacks during the day. i try to drink lots of milk too. Anyway, i want to put on muscle instead of just fat. Im going to start going to the gym so need advice on a training plan.

But what im mainly here for is to ask advice on my diet. Is my diet + shakes sufficent to gain weight? Im goin to buy some whey protein from this site within the next few days, and make shakes with them. I used to mix whey, oats, eggs, banana and milk together to make a shake, and use that as a snack to bump up my calorie count but i ran out of protein, and my blender broke. So my diet, plus shakes. is this a good plan for bulking up?

The products i was thinking of buying were as follows:
MP Max - true whey OR Impact Whey Protein (which is better?)
Maltodextrin (would this stuff benefit me? will it mix with shakes?)
    maybe some creatine?

ok so basically, hi, and need people to critique my diet plan, and give me general advice on how i can put on a few KGs in muscle

    thanks

    Welcome to the forum

The diet is not fantastic, you need to eat more of everything and better.

Have some chicken with your pasta

At least one more meal and a snack

Get some fats in e.g nuts

Try getting in some more fruit, a snack of a Banana Apple and some nuts would be ideal at some point

Drop the oven chips for Jacket Potato or Brown Rice

WOuld like to answer in more detail but am very tired

Have a look at the beginner stickies!

note taken about the oven chips and the chicken, but is it still that bad if i included 1-2 shakes a day?

    Shakes along the lines of:
    1 scoop of whey protein
    1-2 eggs
    1 small banana
    2 scoops of oats
maybe some of that maltodextrin stuff?

I think I could eat all you listed before 1pm on an average day so yeah your diet is ****.
If you want to gain as fast as possible forget about trying to do it clean as suggested above, you have to forget about keeping your 4 pack and see the big picture 1 year from now you could be around 20 kilos heavier.
If you try to gain that while holding on to that 4 pack of yours it could take years

4 pac what are you talking about?? the 10am meal is usually what i eat as soon as i get out of bed. im a student so usually dont get up till about 10 unless iv got something in the morning. I find it hard to cram food in sometimes, i feel full after every meal and sometimes feel a bit sick(my portions are pretty big compared to what anyone else iv seen has, think fish and chips you get in a pub and double it)
im not trying to eat clean, just eating stuff i like. the wholemeal thing is because i prefer wholemeal bread taste, and the pasta is because its sposed to be better for you or something, so for the same price i dont care. Any you could probably eat all that before 1pm because you are a pretty big guy, then again what time do you wake up?

A 4 pack is a wanna be 6 pack..... Yeah?
Listen you have to decide how serious you are about this, are you another Brad Pitt fanboy are do you actually want to look like you lift heavy ****.
If you want to build serious muscle it requires years of dedication and is quite an expensive lifestyle.

I don't like making simple things like diet complicated, especially on a bulk.
Keep putting cow,chicken,milk,........etc into your mouth until your scales are moving in the direction you want.
Also drink lots of water aim for a gallon a day

ok thats more of what i was looking for. Im also looking for stuff to compliment my visits to the gym, and try not to put 'flab' on if i can help it, although im guessing this is unavoidable to a certian extent in a bulking diet. Do you have any advice regarding supps? thanks

If your eating right then all you will ever really need is creatine a good whey protein and possibly ZMA and a multi vit.
Make no mistake these are certainly not essentials they only supplement a good diet
