silly question i know... but interested in the answer.

Today i ate quite a lot of food, and towards the end of the night i was feeling full, but had a tuna sandwhich anyway before bed. when i was lying on the couch just before bed, i felt a bit bloated and ill, because of how full i was.

when i finally got up to go upstairs, me moving around made it want to come up, and i was sick. a lot came out, in like 5 or 6 "outings".

my question: Do all the calories from this food that came out get wasted?

example: if i ate 1000 calories worth of food, and was sick like a few hours later, would these 1000 or so calories exit my body, and then it is as if it was never there??

hope you understand what i mean

I would suggest that these calories are lost, as they havent been absorbed by the intestines yet, and have simply been broken down by your stomach and then... erm... removed. To be honest, you've probably lost calories because of the energy taken to break the food down (Thermic Effect).

This isnt a good thing to be doing though, so don't hop on the Girls Aloud Diet, and make sure that you space your intake out across the day properly from now on!

You start to break down food in the mouth with saliva, that itself absorbs some calories, so i guess you wont have lost all of it, (no idea how much either though sorry)

Yes, the vast majority of those calories would have been lost. If that wasn't the case then bulimia, as an eating disorder, wouldn't exist.

If you are going to make this sort of thing a habit then you will have to learn to clench your teeth together whilst actually vomiting and then swallow the lumpy bits in order to conserve calories.

    Hope this helps.

tbh you prob lost more calories from the effort expended throwing up! i would guess, as said before, that you prob got some of the calories but most of them are lost
