    Hello everyone,

How often do you all train and what have you found to be the best for gaining muscle?

I have got a month off soon with not much to do and I want to concentrate on bulking up, I was thinking of combining the knowledge I have read and doing push/pull every other day and my leg exercises will be just squats every few days nothing else.

Going to concentrate on Bench press, Overhead press, cable rows, Pull ups, Chin ups and Squats I cant do deadlifts because my lower back is dodgy and is not worth the risk!

This is quite an individual question and is dependant on rest, recuperation, diet and other lifestyle factors, but I have found hitting each muscle every 5 days to be very effective.

I think Im going to do push/pull/squats 3 days in a row then have a day off and then start again. Thats each muscle every 4-5 days

That may be fine for 4-5 weeks but could lead to CNS fatigue if continued for a long period.

    Push
    Pull
    Legs
    Rest
    Repeat

Sounds good to me. As Luffers says, you might get knackered after a month, but for one month it could really kick start more gains.

    Oops sorry posted that twice!

Also do you think there is really any need for any leg exercises other than squats?? Apart from possibly calf raises, Is it worth doing ham string curls or lying leg supplination cant remmeber if thats what it is called.

I'd do romanian deadlifts and calfs. A ham curl wouldn't go amiss either. How ever if you really hammer squats and are doing them every 5 days then for one month it wouldn't hurt only doing squats to really concentrate on upping how much you can lift with them. I'd still do calves though but i've got crappy calves.
