Lift each arm up at the the same time, you'll create an equilibrium of exerted strength (plus of course weight) and so won't need to lean.
If you can't do both arms at the same time the weight is too heavy.

Doing both at the same time is a must with side lat raises.

But i feel front raises benefit being done one at a time, so long as you don't swing or lean too much because whilst you have a couple foot wide base to support side raises when you do front raises it's only the length of your foot supporting you, forcing you to lean/dodgy posture, one weight takes a lot less counterbalancing of course.

By leaning a lot I guess you mean swinging to get the DB's up? If that's the case you are simply using to much weight.

I use cables, standing side on, sometimes with the cable behind my back.

The cable can be used in the same way as I suggested for the DB's. Slight lean forward, bending at the hips and your thumbs should point down to the floor at the end of the movement.

I feel the burn, just struggling to lift anymore than 10kg as the muscles are tiny compared to my bi's and tri's.

Do you have any videos guys?

Just trying to picture how to do it.

I tried doing the lat raises with both arms at the same time but the cables really hit them hard, especially when I have the cable behind my back.

I only lift 7kg on this exercise when I'm lifting 45kg on a bench press (excluding bar).

I neglected them and i'm now regretting it lol.

I know what you mean!! I neglected lateral raises for a long while, and as a result, my technique sucks plus i cant lift enough! suprisingly though, my overhead pressing is just fine.

has anyone had a look a 'Gironda raises', i try doing them but can help but laughing due to that song by soulja boy last year which was corny enough as it was! (youtube the dance, maybe its just me! lol)

I agree, I can lift a fair bit of weight on the military press but cable raises, hardly anything worth mentioning lol

I tried this today but was sort or rotating my arms to try and get my thumbs towards the floor at the end of the movement is that correct. I started with the dumbells like || infornt of me should they be - - if that makes sense?

Start with your hands at your sides and rotate as you lift so at the top of the movement your thumbs are pointing down to the ground. Lean forwards slighty at the hips also.
