hmm depends tbh, if your a bodybuilder then i agree thats a bloody useless routine. But from a functional point of view i cant see how its that bad! I agree with abs ott though, a unneccesary amount of 'core' work.

Sendos - I tend to agree it's not ideal as a training routine, I've seen harder rehab programs...

Most of the core work is more like pilates, I don't buy the functional core fad - I'm living proof that heavy core work is far greater for stability and function than holds, bridges etc etc...

Ah sorry I sort of scan read it and didnt see that you ride professionally. Maybe you should cut down your other cardio other than cycling and eat more. I did that about a year ago was trying to lose weight and was getting up and cycling 20 miles flat out on a pretty much empty stomach and came down with a lung infection it was not nice! I would say just do a bit less and eat a bit more! and also dont skimp so much on eating some fat.

so what would you recommend? some more whole grain carbs prehaps? I tried to leave carbs out of my evening meals and it was working for the weight loss, but prehaps I should add a few in?

I worked out my diet and it came in with around 2100 calories, but only 180g of carbs.

should I be looking at more like 3000/3500?

Well on those days where you do 6 hours bike training followed by the gym you should probably eat more carbs, will give you more strength as well... You should say either "i want to gain some muscle" or "I want to lose some fat" and adjust your carbs and the amount you eat around what you are doing... Otherwise you will probably just never get anywhere apart from probably fitter.

So what I think from personal experience is you wont really get very far unless you set a specific goal eg. lose weight or gain weight, instead of trying to do both at once... But I would say you should definately try eating more from looking at how much exercise you do.. That way you can increase your body mass which will make it easier to lose fat in the future as well as eating enough to not be overtraining and making yourself ill.
