was you using a barbel? cause i get the same
try dumbells or an ez bar
Hi, I'm fairly new to lifting, however, last night whilst at the gym i was doing bicep cuurls and felt this pain in my wrist afterwards. Its like someone is pushing on the pressure point in my wrist and i can feel this pain right along my forearm. Its like a funny kind of nerve pain i think. Anyone experianced anything like this or know what it could be? Should i just rest it for a week or pay the doctor a visit?

Once the pain is gone I would take some preventative measures and strengthen your wrists with wrist curls etc. so that it doesnt happen again.
Straight-bar work can be hell on the wrists, so try using dumbells or different bars as suggested above to hold your wrists in a more natural position. Also, hold your wrists straight (neutral) during lifts, so that you're not putting the pressure of the weight on them in a weak position (rolled up/down).

Went to see the doctor today. She said it was a stretched nerve. I pressume this was due to the way I was holding the dumbell? Has anyone ever experianced this before? What can be done to prevent this reoccuring? Also any idea how long I should wait before lifting again?
As I said mate, keep your wrists straight through the lift as that's where they're strongest. Wrist wraps might also be useful short term, but personally I'd rather fix a problem than use equipment to ignore it. So rest, then strengthen them, and make sure you lift properly
Just remember: they're bicep curls, not wrist curls!

Is it right along the bone? As i used to get that and still do abit if i do curls, i used to get a building pain along the bone in my forearms that would peak as i put the bar down and released the pressure. From what i read what i had was thought to be to do with a muscle imbalance between the forearm and upper arm or something like that.
My advice useful? Then use MP45436 to get 5% off on your first order and earn me some reward points!

I used to get wrist pain resulting from a broken wrist when i was younger and fell down a hill...
When i first started doing bb curls i would get it all the time now i can lift at least twice as much and get no pain at all....
Also using an ez bar is a lot easier on the wrists than using a straight bar.
Basically same as what monkfish said stick with it and eventually you will strengthen it,
Dumbells are probably worse if its just in one arm, i would say from experience stick with the ez bar and gradually it will get stronger.

ez bars give me THE worst pain along my forearm, feels like the bone is bending, don't experience it with anything else...
Think im going to be out of it for a while. Its something to do with my nerve. Called neuralgia. The pain is unbelieveable. Shoots down my forearm constantly. Its like the horrible feeling u get when you bump ur funny bone only its there all day long!
