So the last few month ive let myself go,alcohol, tabs, rare appearances at the gym with lack of motivation has really set me back. Ive just started a new job the last 4 weeks so adapting to shifts has been hard but im used to it now. If anyone can remember i had a thread called my guerilla war at work, that was my old job with just 30 mins for a break, but the new job im in gives me a extra 20 mins break after my lunch to get my calories intake up.

So why have i decided to get back into the gym in full flow with a no bull**** attitude, well its my 21st birthday today and looking back on the last few months made me a bit down beat so here it is, Im going to follow the Stronglifts 5x5 program and i will follow it and do as im told . Im thinking of opening up a blog to show you guys and myself my progress, although im not in good shape at the moment the potential is certainly there. Is anyone following/followed this routine? the only problem is the chin ups at my gym there is no chin up bar, god knows why.

Im really looking forward to the challenge and my progress

    Happy days

sleeves, the journal will be awesome inspiration for you.

regards chin ups, you got a power rack/smiths machine in your place? if so then stick the bar as high as it will go and just keep your knees bent up behind you.

Or go join a new one, think Tony Jefferies (the boxer) has opened an new one up in the city somewhere. Quite cheap from what i remeber reading too, plus I think half the squad frequent it too.

    A good word of advice:

    Don't be too keen.

Step up training and train hard but don't go at it obsessively or with a feeling it's something 'you must do' (i detected this from the thread title) if you go in to hard at the start it'll become unsustainable/you'll get fed up, work up slowly if anything.
Just take is slow and steady and keep at it

Following the routine will be good, although the SL 5x5 is fairly demanding, take the advice that when you even feel like a break, take one!

i go to the aquatic center near the stadium, there we just use the smiths machine on the top setting, few of my mates go to bunny hill, iv been once and dont think much of it. you can use the aquatic center with the membership you have, so if u drive get yourself to the aquatic center, its a bit for decked out for the weights. there is also a new gym in southwick which is suppose to be good, marine house on sea road, and fitness 2000 in roker, plenty to choose from

Ya see but bunnyhill is right on me doorstep near enough,i must admit the gym does lack a bit of 'class'

Theres a cable machine and theres a bar you can attach across both machines, could i put it on the highest weight and put the bar at highest point and try chin ups like that
