depends on what other exercises you have in your back and leg day and which variation of deadlift you are doing.
Hi all,
I know the deadlift works a massive amount of muscle groups, but i am working on my new training routine and was interested to know whether it is better to group the deadlift into my back day or leg day?
Any advice will be great
Paul

Train it once a week on day where it won't fall with squats.

Not so sure it can't fall on the same day as squats J, depends on the permeatations of your routine. The traditional BB place to put them would be on "Back" day, someone on an upper / lower split may run deads and squats alternatively, someone training westside might have both in the same session, may have a day for each.
To answer the question it's a massive "it depends" realting tona number of factors.

Thanks all for your response.
My new routine is a Push, Pull & Leg 3 day split. I am mainly working on compound exercises. I have placed the deadlift in my Pull day and therefore as a back exercise. I am doing the romanian deadlift on my leg day.
Does that sound ok?
Thanks
Paul
I'm a great believer in splitting, where possible, squats and deads apart - so yeah, would say it will be fine![]()

That sounds about right then Paul. Deadlift is the best Pull movement there is and would rightfully sit on the Pull day. Just be carefull with the other lifts you do that day. Heavy deads followed by heavy BOR's can hurt the lower back. If your doind deads then I'd look to do a chest supported row of some variety.

Dave, I have grouped BOR with my deadlift day. I tried to follow the 2 exercises with body weight pull-ups, not luck though. I can hardly do pull-ups at the best of times, but couldn't do it at all after that. Will do pull-ups first next time.
