    Hey all!

Today I planned to go to the gym and do my back/bicep workout as I couldn't do it on wednesday like I normally do. However I am going to a friends 18th party and so expect to get pretty messy! I do not fully understand the detrimental effects of alcohol on someone training to build mass and so wondered if it would effectively be "pointless" to train today. I would normally say I'll do it friday but I work the weekends in a stockroom moving heavy boxes all day so I would rather not train my arms or back anytime after thursday. So my question is: would it be better to skip training today and resume next week? Or does alcohol not have too much of an immediate effect on buiklding muscle mass?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!
    Thanks

Personally, I would just go and do the workout. The alcohol may impair your recovery from the workout but not to any great extent. Certianly not enough to be worrying about as a non-regular event.

If it was a regular occurence then I would advise against it, but sometimes real life takes precedence over 100% optimal training (and recovery). Get down the gym and enjoy yourself later.

Quick tip, if you have any glutamine, take 10g first thing tomorrow morning before eating, in a pint of water. Works wonders on hangovers.

Dont worry about it too much, the extra calories will probably do you good. Just eat a lot of protein through out the day beforehand.

Yup, same here. And Fred gave my tip about hangovers and Glut (not that its my tip of course). I r redundant.

Pretty much the best thing I ever read about alcohol and training by Martin though, awesome article. I plan to test his alcohol protocol out thoroughly
