    Anyone suffer from excessive sweating?

It's particularly bad when I'm in the gym during training, which I'm not that bothered then. (even though when I look around barely anyones sweating in the weight section :S)

I use Driclor which stops the sweating in my pits which works well, but I tend to sweat alot on my face and my back. Even when I'm not training and I'm just in a warm room.

At the moment I'm eating around 1800-2200 calories per day, nothing particularly unhealthy. Any advice or anything?

In my very very limited knowledge of sweating I believe that there is not much that you can do other than losing some weight, or improving general health.

True excessive sweating is a medical condition (dowdy16 might have this) and because it is something controlled by the autonomous nervous system there is not much about it without turning to drugs (which works in some cases but not others) or surgery.

Some people get their sweat ducts removed, others have the nerves that feed the ducts severed.

In both cases however I think there may be compensatory sweat elsewhere, i.e. if you stop your armpits from sweating your back might sweat more to compensate.

I hope that was of some use, but I'm afraid that's the depth of my walking around knowledge.

Edit - stimulants which raise the metabolic rate may also contribute to sweating, might be worth cutting out caffeine or workout enhancers if you are using them to see if it has any effect.

ye me have a problem like this. I sweat lots also on face and head even when I just start getting hot. I just came back from a 1hr fasted walk, its around 30 degrees here and getting quite humid. After about 5 minutes being out side walking sweat was literally running down my face and I look around at the locals who just walk aground enjoying the heat. Not me...i hate the heat.
I don't mind in the gym...but it get's embarrassing when you start sweating for no reason just cos you are getting a bit hot at work or something. The embarrassment factor sometimes makes it worse, as you tend to get hotter. And i am far from fat, overweight, unhealthy or anything like that.

Yeah, I know someone that had their sweat duct severed and they are very happy with the results. They were obviously lucky, there can be side effects for some people.

I agree with the information given by PROF, and it is just a fact of life that some people sweat more than others. Look into any supplements you may be taking for side effects and limit your caffeine intake if you are consuming that daily. It is particularly important you replace your lost fluids if you are sweating a lot so drink plenty of water and this will maximise your performance and prevent dehydration! Also, you will need to replace lost salts through increased sweat so consider the use of sports drinks if your doing intense training, ensure you pick sports drinks wisely.

I had embarrassing problems with sweating at work, not helped by the office I work in being ridiculously hot all year round. I put it down to more muscle = more heat = more perspiration.

I have tried every antiperspirant going but found that, although they initially reduce sweating in the areas you use them, for me that was only temporary and they actually made it worse overall in the long-run. I switched to a non-antiperspirant (which are surprisingly difficult to find) and, after an initial transition of sweating a bit more, I'm sweating much less than I was when I used an antiperspirant.
