Am i too busy for the gym, here is my routine...

Monday - boxing training for 90 mins, very intense
Tuesday - football training for 90 mins ish, not intense
    Wednesday - off
    Thursday - off
    Friday - off
    Saturday - 11 a side football , 90 mins very intense
    Sunday - 7 a side football, 45mins very intense.

Before I started 11 - a side football and boxing i was doing M/W/F at the gym doing HST, Now I am back onto a bodybuilding split with my main aim to gain some size, this may not suit football and boxing, but id like to add a few pounds.

At the moment I'm still going to the gym, im usually doing Deadlifts and assistance on a wednesday, Bench Press and assistance on a friday although id like to fit in another upper body, doing overhead press and assistance.

My diet is good, I need it to be good or id be knackered all the time, but due to my line of work i can make meals at any time of day, even though i am standing all day i am full of energy when I go home.

Anyone have any ideas, I'd like to train 3 times a week at the gym, but personally I think its difficult.

    Be great to have feedback.

Try it and see. It will be difficult initially but give it a month for your body to adapt to the workload and see how you get on. You have 3 'free' days in there which could easily be filled with gym work.

Well, i would pick a training approach that is brief, low volume, and not maximal loads. Try and see what happens. Personally, i dont think you are going to gain much muscle mass due to the amount of endurance activity you do. The best you will probably achieve is better muscular condition and improvement in power output.

It seems to me that rather than being 'too busy for the gym', you have opted to just use the time you could be in the gym to do other sports. Thats fine and im not knocking you for it, but you cant do everything all the time.

Hooliganism Continues To Spread... and now includes endurance athletes | Chaos and Pain

Gives you an idea of what the body is actually capable of.

I highly recommend reading the blog that goes with this site; http://chaosandpain.blogspot.com

Some of the articles can include very NSFW images, plenty of NSFW language and some inappropriate comments but the premise behind it is all about a good common sense approach, and not being a "wimp", (in the mental, rather than physical sense).

Ive been reading this blog too, I love it and its what alot of people need. The idea of not pussy-footing around and working damn hard needs to be spread to all people if they want to make significant progress in the gym.

Thanks for the advice guys I will take it on board and go and bust my ass in the gym tonight again. I definitely want to continue my boxing training and sunday 7's, although im seriously considering dropping 11's as its too much. I work hard during the day and sometimes work weekends / nights as well so got to give myself some time to relax at some point!! Football training tonight again.... the joys!!
