Hi guys posting a thread after some time

As my title suggests I am looking to Bulk Up. I am 21 years old, 5ft 6 (not tall) and weight around 8 stone. I don't look super skinny or even skinny but i want to look bigger chest, shoulders, arms & waist.

I have been working out at home for some years but only past 6/8 months have been doing routine workouts & protein shakes however i do keep changing workouts because get bored I have got much bulkier/toned look on my chest & shoulders and love bodyweight exercises mainly push ups

Anyway I want someone help me come up with a routine OR advice for home workout. Nothing too crazy and daily mostly hoping 3/4days. I own barbell/dumbells only no bench and currently just doing heavy weights on biceps & triceps but some days do squats & overhead

ps: followed stronglifts for sometime as well.

Pick a program. Give it six months. During which, eat ALOT of food (preferably the right sort of daily macros.) I'm assuming you don't care much about gain a little body fat (or maybe you struggle to put on fat anyway.)

Seriously. It's that easy. Programs don't give you results, they're just ideas. The work you put in gets you the result.

Extra things? Pick a goal, make a solid plan to get there and then do it. Otherwise, like many others before, you'll give up sooner or later.

Squats, bench and deads (probably throw some sort of overhead press in there too, push-press would work too.) Do them. Chins and dips for your arms. Anything else beyond that is a bonus, in my opinion.

Do you have a goal? Doesn't matter to people if it's for vanity reasons or performance, you need to know why you're doing it.

So you want to look better? Vanity reasons. No shame in that, just as long as you know what you want from your training.

If you can't work it out yourself then look at someone who is currently where you want to be. Then follow how they got there. Simple strategy. Works for many people.

So if you want to look like a cover model, for example, find out what way a few of them train. Then train that way for six months or more. Review the results. Adjust if necessary. Keep going.

    Simple.

Doesn't matter how you train within reason, it's eating more that will bulk you up, not the routine itself.

As long as you hit each muscle group with enough weight and eat more calories than you use each day/week, you'll get bigger.

Personally, I'd say if you can't already bench at least your bodyweight and squat 1.5x your bodyweight then choose something proven and simple like Stronglifts 5x5.

With all due respect a lot of us have gone through this with you before.

    Youth needing help and guidance!!!

Beginner at strong lifts 5x5.. advice & help needed???

    stronglifts bench pressing/overhead press

Spiderdans' beginners guide has all the information you need.

Unfortunately the responses will always be the same:

    - Eat a lot

    - Follow a programme which prioritises the compounds.

    - Get plenty of rest

    - Rinse and repeat.

These 4 points have been utilised by pretty much all strength athletes throughout history.
