what are the pros and cons of having a few days rest after a block of training? (e.g. 6 weeks) is it simply just whole body recovery or does it actually allow hypertrophy to 'finish' if that makes any sense? probably a bit of a stupid question lol

    Pros-joints, slight muscle growth
    Cons-weaker the 1st week back

It is better to have a week of lighter, lower volume workouts as u will not lose strength this way.

you do lose a little strength but it soon returns. I think the payoff in strength is outwayed by the recovery but physical and mental

Yes, and if a lighter lower volume week didnt allow totally recovery here I would take weeks off. What I meangt by lighter lower volume was basically 2 fullbody workouts:

    1
    DB bench 3x10
    BB row 3x10
    Squat 3x10
    calf raise 2x10

    2
    Deadlift 3x10
    Pullup 3x10
    Incline bench 3x10
    calf work 2x10
All done with 5-10kg or so less weight than the last workout.

I usually have a week off every 8 weeks and tend to come back slightly stronger. I seem to get more of a firmer feel to my overall body aswell.

I found this the last time I had my week off.

I was stronger and more focused all round the sessions after i was back.

Guess I'm outnumbered then, lol. Cos I always come back weaker after a full week off.
