Ok so I've done my first 12 week stint on SL5x5 and seen some great results!!

I've given myself 2 weeks to repair now but in the last week of the cycle I was really struggling with the weight. I also want now to strip back some fat what is the best move for me now???

Should I start the 5x5 again at a lower weight and cut the calories or start a different routine??

    Cheers in advance.

SL5x5 is not a set time frame nor should you be cycling your weights in terms of 40% 60% ect of your 1 rep max. I think you have either read the SL5x5 wrong or you’re doing something like Madcow. If you’re on the SL5x5 you should have 2 workouts.

    Workout A

    Squat 5x5
    BenchPress 5x5
    Barbell Row 5x5

    Workout B

    Squat 5x5
    Overhead Press 5x5
    Deadlift 1x5

You should do this 3 times a week rotating ABA BAB and each session you should be increasing the weight by about 2.5kg until you stall when there is a set protocol to follow. This programme should be followed until you can

    Squat 1.5 x Body weight
    Deadlift 2 x Body Weight
    Bench Press Body weight

If your a beginer it should defo last longer than 12 weeks i would have thought anyway. Hope this helps
