Or should i just stick at what i'm doing now and stop overthinking.
I'm struggling to get my head around how many sets and reps to be doing when cutting.
I hear that it is best to go heavy with low reps and sets but i'm not sure how to put it into practise.
I do a reverse pyramid style with all lfts (except squat) i.e bench - 2x5 @ 80kg + 1x8 @ 70kg + 1x10 @ 60kg
Would i just do 3x5 @ 80kg instead, or keep at the RP and cut number of sets, is 3 sets enougth to maintain?
My squat i just do 5x5 at the same weight, would i just go down to 3x5 with that?
I keep thinking that only three sets won't be enougth to maintain muscle, i realise i won't be trying to build more muscle but i don't want to do too little either.
Also i am following James' Upper/Lower split, i'm not sure wether to stick at that or just do body parts once a week.
Or should i just stick at what i'm doing now and stop overthinking.
"Squatting on a Bosu ball makes it so much more challenging!" So does getting tapped in the balls while squatting, want me to do that too?
3 sets is ample to maintain muscle mate, it's all you need, assistance exercises you only really need 2 sets tbh. You're getting no benefit by adding volume, your only goal is keeping your max as high as possible, which you achieve in your first set.
Squats do RPT as well, 3 sets, drop 10% off each time.

So three sets of RPT then. So with my bench i would only do 1 set of 80kg before dropping down for two further sets? I won't really be spending much time in the gym then.

Depends on how many assistance exercises you're doing but yeah, you should be done in 45 mins easy.
