ok im going for a 12 week bulk but when i go to cut, on my cardio days i absolutely HATE short intense 20min cardio.
i actually love and enjoy long distance running and tend to do a 4-6 mile run.
but my question is what if i did my usual 35-50 min jog maybe with some sprints added? is that too much cardio? will that be too much and run the risk of hitting a catabolic state? last thing i wanna do is strip my progress, ive worked hard for it ha ha ha ha!

    current 156lb
    bench 70kg
    41 chest 13.5 arms 34 waist

    thanx guys!

see here loosing fat - the (very basic) basics.

fastes walking is basically waking up in the morning and going for a walk before you eat, exercise in the fasted state (meaning you are using stored fat, for fuel)

I think you should only worry about what you are doing now, not a cut in 3 months time.

You should "enjoy" most of your training, if you hate something you arent going to put the effort in.

If you want to do 5-6 mile runs in a cut, thats fine, but you have to consider their effects on the programming as a whole.

The absolute key during fat loss (unless you're going for short duration super shredded) is strength maintenance...if you're lifts take a dive you either need to cut back on the cardio or add a few more calories / carbs to help.

clarence bass always said cutting and bulking is a mistake. the muscle you gain in a bulk you lose when you want to reduce bodyweight, and when you go from a cut to a bulk most of the weight is fat. (clarences words not mine dont shoot me down) but im inclined to agree.

i really like james' post!! really good and ill get cracking on that!! the only reason why im "bulking" is because my metabolism is sky high. if i do any cardio, even very light, i become insatiably hungry and weak. i literally need every calorie i can get or my weight just plummets! so im just doing no cardio for the time being till i get my desired size!!. my diet is as follows:

morning - 1 cup of oats made with milk, 5 eggwhites and multi vit, l-arginine, l-lysine and l-canitine

snack/pre workout - creatine and protein shake (20g of protein) mixed with water and a banana followed by post work out shake (20g of protein)

lunch - turkey breast grilled with 1 cup of greens (spinach and broccoli) and 200g of brown rice.

snack - protein shake mixed with water (40g of protein) and an apple.

dinner - turkey breast with brown pasta, tomatoes, onions, peppers, courgettes and mushrooms. low fat yoghurt dessert!

bed - protein shake mixed with milk. (50g of protein)
