Sorry mate I should have been a bit clearer I meant to put what other exercises as in not legs, as the leg moves 3xweek is just too much too soon for my knees, I've had 4 crucial ligament rebuilds! Cheers

Why not just do some weighted pull ups instead of squats and do some core stuff to replace pull ups later on?

Some people will make good gains with this, others won't. Theres only one way to find out...

Making sure your eating plenty will give you the best chance.

what about bodyweight squats, goblet squats, kettlebell squats to ease back into it. then when you feel confident, move to barbell squats with the dr's ok.

the more you squat the stronger you will get and you will get used to the doms.

as long as your lifting heavy enough to make it hard then you,ll get gains. that hypertorthy thing is nonsence in my opinion. muscles cant count ;D

i might try just going lighter for a while, did the 3 sessions with squats for the last 3 weeks and literally cant walk up stairs my legs are that torn! its good as i know im working them but i have to be a bit more cautious than most as i have grafts through my knee from the operations! doms feels good anyway, its just a good sign ive worked my muscles!

just work your way up mate. no point rushing these things when you still have plenty of years left. it's gonna suck if you re-injure and have to have surgery again cos you was too hasty with the gym. remember that training is to help improve your quality of life.

as you are recovering from teh surgery, i wouldn't advise lunges unless its bodyweight. it is likely that the structure is still weak at the moment and probably unstable with weighted movements.
