    Alot of novices to lifting weights get pretty bad DOMS for a few months - its perfectly normal. A good warmup, stretching and taking antioxidants, carbs and protein immediately after training are good ways to reduce DOMS. As you get more 'veteran' your body adapts better and doesnt overreact with such mega DOMS. However, even experienced lifters can still get DOMS - all it takes is a change in volume, intensity, exercise types, exercise order, etc.
