Ive got a dodgy knee but as long as my form is good I can manage squats and regular deadlifts but sldl s dont feel good. Has anyone got any tips?

I was thinking maybe trying the hyperextension bench and making sure my lower back is arched to keep the emphasis on my hams. Anyone got any suggestions? I remeber Meat mentioning he didnt do sldl, what do you do instead?

Yeah may give em a try but I think it ll be the same movement on the knee as the sldl. I wonder if I bend my knees more if it would take the pressure off but then again this may take the emphasis off the hams.
Does anyone use weighted hyperextensions for hamstrings?

Ham Curls although not as effective they are reasonably safe, if you look at the DogCrap journal there is an exercise called a Ham raise (there is a link to it from the journal). You could try that but just looking at the video scares me senseless

Alternatively I think you should be ok with the good mornings just start with a low weight to make sure that you are ok

    Hamstring/ lower back

GHR's - yep rackitup explains glute ham raises and puts a video up
Butt out style good mornings - there's a link to this in my journal under for future reference
Pull throughs - go to midwestbarbell.com it's there somewhere

and ye you could do hypers if you get some bands for resistance. Finally yes bend your knee's slightly when you do sldl's.

Cheers for the advice everyone! Been checking out pull throughs and single leg stiff leg deads, looks like Id need to work alot on my balance for the latter exercise.

By the way allthegoodnamesaregone, have you had any embarrasing accidents with pull throughs? Looks like if you re not careful you could get your crown jewels caught up!!

As long as you use a cable not barbed wire you should be fine.

GHR's and leg curls. SLDL are actually quite poor at stimulating the hamstrings IIRC, I saw an EMS study and I think they were last on the list(leg curls were best). I hate them with a passion and can actually Leg curl more than I can SLDL.
