Do you guys train a bodypart when its still sore? Even if you've had your normal rest days inbetween?

Had a really good bicep blaster 3 days ago. Then followed it with intense bouldering session the following day ( bouldering's basically climbing above a crash pad, but at a 'safe' height, where you're free to try 3-20 explosive movements at 70-100% max effort)

Yesterday was cardio (45 mins bike before breakfast), followed by another impromptu bouldering session (cause a m8 called round and wanted to go climbing).

Today's chest/delts/triceps, but tomorrow, what if the biceps are still sore?

Does it compromise growth if I blast 'em again?

"To Train, or Not To Train?: THAT is the Question"

    Thanx in advance,

I read a report recently that stated it wasn't detrimental to train a body part that was still sore from a previous workout. It was mentioned that there was no more muscle soreness than was originally there prior to workout, this may well be the case but I still believe a muscle should be rested until it has had enough time to repair itself, or at least only given very light work. I don't believe there is anything to be gained from putting a muscle under load when it is still damaged.

    Cheers, Billy.

That's what I thought. You never know, The soreness might be gone by this time tomorrow ( or at least much reduced ).

I've always been told it's not a good idea to train tired muscles, although every so often it can be a good idea as it really stresses them and causes them to build back stronger. It's just not a good idea to do it all the time. I used to get sore legs 24x7 when I used to cycle to work everyday then go running and play football at the weekends.

You'll most likely find you just won't be able to climb as long as if you were fresh. As I said above it can be good to do it every so often, just make sure you are eating well and resting after these types of sessions.

    Cheers, Craig.

I'm a regular on ukclimbing: same username ( check out my photo gallery ). I'm trying to bulk up a bit, so I wanted to steer clear of the old sportclimbers' mantra: " Food is for Weaklings! "
