Just wondering, when bulking, whats the difference between doing 3 days split like the push/pull routine and the 6 day splits you see in muscle and fitness/ bodybuilding forums? i know in the 3 day you concentrate on heavier compound lifts but it feels like im not doing enough. and i keep seeing all these fancy routines where you only rest on sunday and do one body part per day. my trainings pretty sorted but really confused at things other people in the gym say.

By the way, i am trying to bulk, and i am a classsic ectomorph, 82kg, 6ft2.
We're going up through the quad to the gymnasium...

there are man different philsophys that eventually lead to the same goal.
i would prefer a 3 day split like push pull and not overtrain the cns
to enable recovery if you are naural you will need extra day to recover. eg. one on, one off ...
as long as you train consistantly, get your diet sorted, rest and dont overtrain (ie way to much volume, like most) you will grow like a weed.
also post some pics in the forum, so you see your progress in afew months.

If you work out 6 days you're doing more volume that's the difference. More volume can be good or bad. A lot of elite bb's do lots of volume. Check out Serge Nubrets slpit on the forum. From memory there is sets and sets of 8 reps. Could a beginner do this? Probably not but when you train for a while you may need the added volume to gain more mass so you upgrade from 3day push/pull/legs to 6 days different bodypart each day. This is not to say a beginner/intermediate can't gain on a 6day split. At the end of the day working out twice a week or 7 days a week will work if you add more resistance each week and get plenty of food.

Many of these routines are taken from guys who are using steroids, while others are just fancy 'fashion' exercises; plus there's also the line of thought that states you must train each muscle group separately and really give it a good pounding, so that you know you've had a good hard workout. What they don't tend to realise is that without enough rest between each session you could seriously end up over training and not make any gains.

I like to keep it simple and give myself enough rest; less is definitelly more...

thanx guys, cleared it up a bit better there.ill stay with the 3 day split like i was always going to.
was just curious about why these 6-day things are plastered everywhere.
