Hi guys. Basically, I have been out of the gym for about 6 weeks due to improving my fitness by running outside.

So last week I go back - and didnt do my proper routine. This is because I wanted to get into the swing of things by just messing about on a bit of everything really.

I'm in the gym yesterday - and a guy (a bodybuilder) saw what I was doing and said that I should rethink what I was doing and to do this routine:

Chest: 5 different exercises of 5 sets to failure
Bi / Tri: 4 different exercises of 5 sets to failure
    Back: same as chest
Shoulders: same as bi / tri
Legs: same as bi / tri

Surely 25 sets to failure on chest is FAR too much? The same goes for the other body parts IMO. What do you think?

If anyone wants to help me out, I can now only get to the gym TWICE a week. My goals are strength, not particularly size; and I would like to have a dedicated legs day.

    Mike

blatantly he is obviously so full of androgens that it makes up for his gross over training.... just my opinion. I dont train strength but look at this; http://www.myprotein.co.uk/your-goal...ticle=training

It looks like the routine there requires 4 days? How could I reduce this to 2?

I may be able to do four days thinking about it - take advantage of Uni facilities :P

yeah if you can do it, then do it. that routine will definitely get you stronger than you have ever been. that is as long as you have a good diet and good rest time.

My diet could be far better, I'm going to aim for 200g+ protein a day (I am around 167lbs), reckon thats alright?

Just had a leaflet from my Uni - £200 for 3 years membership doesn't sound too bad! My current gym is £250 a single year!

As a rule of thumb have 1g of protein per pound of body weight then get about 25% of your calories from fats then fill the rest with complex carbohydrate or simple after training (to restore glycogen levels).
That gym fee sounds amazing! is it a very well equipped gym? squat racks, dumbbells etc. I pay £250 a year at fitness first atm.

I am going to check it out - but in the leaflet there is a pic of a guy doing squats, so far so good!

That fee also includes use of the pool too
