Is there a downside to dextrose loaded supplements? I can't help think its just a quick fix, and quick fixes always have a downside, don't they?

I guess there is a good and bad side to most things. If you are having it as part of your stack and it is working for you, then why change?

Go for Waxy Maize Starch post-workout instead, you know it make sense.

For any other time of the day opt for a low GI carb!

PWO there is nothing wrong with sugar. Wont make you fat really unless you have too much or unless your whole diet is out of whack.

It is probably the best place to eat sugar if you had to eat it but there is much better nutrition to be eaten.

WMS is a better option. Nothing wrong with oats or something PWO either. Sugar is great though.

If you are a diabetic and falling into a hypoglycemic coma, the answer is [probably] no! If you are a non-diabetic then it is a surefire way of becoming one, so the answer is yes!

What would dextrose [or any sugar] be a quick fix for? An energy slump? Then it would be a very quick AND short-lived fix...the resultant insulin spike would clear the glucose from the blood, making the energy slump worse than it was before and the vicious circle begins: insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, diabetes.

Small and controlled quantities of endogenously produced glucose may be necessary for a limited number of cells but consuming sugars is just temporarily filling up on empty calories at the expense of hormonal balance.
