    Hello all

This is my virgin-breaking posting, and it's an emotional moment. But seriously, I could really do with some advice and suggestions from the community who I'm sure have got loads of experience to share.

Me: male, 33; standing proudly at 5ft 5ins in my socks; reasonably athletic build; currently weighing 11st 8lb, down from a chunky 13st of lard courtesy of years of corporate lunches and work beers.

Situation: made a resolution to get properly fit, lost the fat, put on some decent muscle and aim to start playing rugby next season before it gets too late. I've worked hard in the gym to shift well over a stone and improve my cardio capacity since Christmas, but I've hit a bit of a wall.

Problem: my personal trainer is great, I'm doing lots of work on the core right now, and am starting to do some more muscle-building exercises. But I could really do with shifting another couple of pounds of lard hanging on the belly at the front which are proving pretty stubborn. Then, I'm looking to make the most of working out to really put on some bulk and muscle definition.

So, my convoluted question is: what sort of supplements could/should I be taking to help this process? And is this the right strategy in the first place?

    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks.

Ill try again.. actually reading everything this time

In all honesty mate, as you are actually looking to take part in a man's sport and not just mince around trying to get on the cover of Mens Health.. i wouldnt worry about the last few pounds of body fat.

Get eating and training big and put on some rubgy mass and the chances are youll loose the gut anyway. You may even find that you dont really have much of a gut, its more posture that will improve as you start lifting.

Supplements wise, Id start with some unflavoured whey, BCAAs and creatine mono H. Keep things nice and simple. I find that Tribulus and ZMA is great for chaps of our age as well.. ZMA in particular really helps my recovery.

Theres a couple of big rugby lads on here so im sure they can give you some more specific advice.

    PB's :Bench 120kg x 2 (110kg x 5), Squat 200kg x 2 (170kg x 5), Deadlift 240kg x 1 (180kg x5)

Tbh supplements for fat loss give you minimal help, its the cardio and diet that are the biggest attributing factors.
