all sounds interesting
I doubt I could go without berries especially in the summer...I'll follow this with interest.
Are you going to have a pre and post blood test?
good luck NU

I know I should (have a blood test - both before starting and sometime after) but I can't really afford to have any done privately and I've already blagged a freebie out of my GP in the recent past and don't have the neck to try it again!
Depending on how things go - and for how long - I may stump up for one as a 'during/after'. Since my previous blood test was done after being on the high fat/low carb diet for several months and was well within 'norms' it could serve as the 'before'!

Having finished my last meal, here are the final totals for the day:
Total calories: 2802.7 kcals
Protein: 146.6g %Total calories: 21% g per KG b/w: 1.6g
Carbohydrates: 12.5g %Total calories: 2%
Fat: 240.7g %Total calories: 77%
BG (postprandial): 5.3 mmol/L
I managed to hit my macro ratio targets quite easily and hope to average these levels each day.
I will keep a record (as best as possible) of each day's intake from this point on and post an averaged figure for a day's eating at the end of each week along with my stats to monitor any changes in body composition.
I may also add in info on fasting or postprandial BG just to see what effect a really low carb intake has on glycemic control. As well as general observations about health and energy levels during the week.

As I was reading this thread I was thinking I'd ask the same thing but spud had already got there! Yes, it would have been very interesting to have bloods done before, after, and during, but not exactly easy to get on the cheap. Since you were fairly constant on your previous diet (so I'm assuming anyway), your previous bloods I'd agree are probably a good enough representation of your 'before' state.
I've actually had my own bloods done this last week and am waiting for results; it's twelve months since my hyperthyroid illness... If all's good then no more free tests (I guess I can live with that!).
Back on topic, what's your hypothesis with this diet experiment NU? Do you have certain specific expectations or is this more of an 'investigate and monitor' type endeavour? Also, will you be sticking to this protocol for a pre-defined period of time?
Will follow with interest.
I'm pretty open at this stage. A lot will depend on my vitamin C status and how quickly I develop symptoms, if at all. I am hoping to emulate Stefansson's results of no vitamin C deficiency or scurvy after 12 months of no fruit and veg. I understand humans have made up for their inability to synthesize the vitamin by being very good at recycling it. It is reckoned that even without obvious dietary sources it can be several months before a deficiency shows up.
I also want to see how low I can keep my daily carb intake and still maintain daily energy levels and glycemic control. Also, will I be able to drop my bodyfat % any lower than it currently is and/or gain any more lean mass. I wouldn't want my bf% to go into single figures, but a couple of percentage points lower I could live with!
