If you mean signs you can 'feel' then generally a 'warm, glowing feeling' often in your stomach area, lower back but sometimes all over.
Also, when going from higher carbs to ketosis you'll feel lousy and then 'bam' the ketosis starts quite rapidly and you suddenly feel 'alive', often within an hour.

I felt like I'd been run over by 50 monster trucks. If that helps

Since you mention thirst, I've been unusually super thirsty the last few weeks. My carbs are at 120g though so ketosis shouldn't be an issue.

The general consensus among low carbers and ketogenic dieters seems to be:

    Feeling hot and sweaty
    Increased thirst
    Decreased appetite (no snacking urges)
    Improved skin tone
    Dry mouth/ketone breath
    Smelly pee!

Low carb here (20% daily cal intake, around WO).

Whenever I pee during the period of high fat intake, my pee stinks to put it bluntly, I want to drink a LOT more, never need to have carbury dairy milk like I used to, etcetc. All examples of what NU stated. Don't particularly ever feel hot and sweatry but I definately don't get the same feeling of wanted to sleep after meals as I did on my high carb diet a long time ago.

I would imagine not very long because I don't think gene expression (of all the enzymes, etc. necessary for increased fat oxidation) is down-regulated that quickly. Probably a matter of 1-3 days if the high carb phase has been relatively short.

If you've not been on a high carb phase or 'carb-up' but just feel like you have slipped out of ketosis, then it would probably be virtually instantaneous on lowering carbs right down. Be aware that lack of symptoms doesn't mean you are not in ketosis. I think the vast majority of symptoms (bad breath/smelly pee, etc.) are due to your body excreting the excess it can't burn for energy. It may be you have become more efficient at burning them and so don't excrete as many and get the symptoms.

This is where Ketositix may be useful - I find my ketone excretion rate varies from day to day quite considerably even though I haven't eaten any discreet carb sources for 3 months or more!
