Pork shoulder joints half price... excellent deal, Not sure of the /kilo amount but got a huge joint for a fiver! It was enough for a big sunday roast for two with loads of crackling, two leftover roasts for lunch today and probably enough for at least 4 more meals.

My tip - pour boiling water on the skin, dry, rub in lots of salt slow roast it at 100C all day, then whack it up to 230 C for the last 15-30 mins till the crackling is crackling. Rest for 15 and then eat. Should be able to carve it with a spoon.

I've gone off salmon but love haddock with a creamy, buttery, brie sauce!

Just noticed Tesco are selling sliced beef heart. £1.97 for 600g. They’ve removed all the valves and pretty much all the fat from what I can see so you don’t have to faff around with all that, and sliced into to steak-style slices. Nutritionally, its high in good quality protein, low in fat (about 3.5%), and absolutely packed chocka of b vits, zinc, co-enzyme q-10, and loads of other micronutrients you’d typically find in offal.

Sliced Beef Ox Tail £5.09 a kilo

Another classic food making its way back. Loaded with collagen, monounsaturates, vitamins and minerals, and dirt cheap. Very tasty in casseroles and the slow cooker.
