    HI,

I am looking to do the Velocity Diet.

However I dont want to buy the exp products that it recommends.

Having a look on here is the MP Instant Milk Protein - Instantised Casein, a good one to take for my shakes?

I read on other forums that the shakes should mainly be Casein for slow release protien

Instant milk protein - Protein powders | myprotein.co.uk

My other question was. I understand that I need to get 1g of protien per lb I weigh. However I cant find anything stating how much healthy fat I am supposed to have?

I was going to take the MP Omega 3 caps and flaxseeds from <High Street Competitor Name>, but i have no idea how much to take.

    Any suggestions?

total protein, recovery xs, 20x omega 3 caps(per day) from a certain huge supermarket chain, 2 tablespoons of linseeds, 2 jars of natural earth PB and a enourmas dollop of will power did the trick for me. (The will power is the important ingriedent)

If I where to do it again I'd certainly add the bcaas too as I think I lost a bit of muscle in there too.

    edit: thermopure

I was gonna calc my calories based on my current weight - which is 165lb (height 5'7).
I worked it out to be (rounded off) 1300 on non training days and 1500 on training days.

Does that sound about right? I always thought anything under 1500 and you go into starvation mode??

    Dave,

    >> 2 tablespoons of linseeds

Was that daily and spread out over the 6 shakes I take it?

    ok my other questions....

Even after going through your log I still am no wiser as to how much good fat I need to take in?

Also are fat burners really needed? I always assumed they were useless unless you were low bf already. The difference they make is tiny and I was told not to waste my ££.

As I have a fair bit of whey I was thinking of mixing 50% whey and 50% MP Instant Milk Protein. Does that sound ideal? Eg, will give me a slow release of protien.

And final Q. Again as I have alot of whey, for post workout can't I just add some dextrose to the shake instead of buying an all in one?

    Any suggestions from anyone??

    sounds about right kcal wise,

as your slowly drip feeding yoursel the kcals across the day you won't go into 'starvation mode'.

down the hatch in one go was the linseeds!! make sure you grind them well other wise your body won't digest them and you'll be ripping your butt cheeks on them when you wipe, if you get the pre-ground ones the fat will be rancid and useless due to the temps involved. I used a pestle and mortar, but only cause I'm a skinflint and would'nt pay for an electronic grinder!!

Sorry forgot to add thermopure to the list at top.

I felt these worked loads, really helps your body start burning the fat.

If the whey and dextrose give you the same benfits as the recvovery then go for it, BUT, as the recovery xs is such a different drink to the other shakes I really looked forward to it, it was like a minifeast, filled me up for ages it seemed, it's hard to discribe but for this reason alone I would advice leave recovery xs in, it helps with the psycological side of it. Which is a massive, massive part.

Regards the money, I did it for around £150, which is £25 per week (and I still have some TP and linseeds left!!). How a week do you spend on food? I bet it's close to that amount. This helped me again on the psycological aspect of it, I'd told myself I'd spent my next 6 weeks of food money in one go, so it was shakes or nowt!!

I was stuck on the fat side of it too tbh, thankfully as I was around the same weight as Gustavo to begin with I just matched his requirements. You might be wise posting a couple q's on the offical V diet forum about it, they'll be able to help you with the fat question. Same goes for you LH.

I can't stress enough though, this is a huge psycological test, you'll get hunger pains and feelings like you've never had before, at first everything looks tasty, even your keyboard!! after a week though you get used to this feeling, and kinda learn to seperate the feelings in your belly away from thoughts of hunge in your head. Try to think of the feelings in your belly not as hunger, but it's what it feels like when your body is digesting it's own fat!

Cool, thanks for all you replies so far.

RE: recovery xs, how did you find the taste?

Also do you think my strategy for a 50/50 mix of whey and MP Instant Milk Protein sounds ok for the other shakes?

I dont really want to waste the whey that I have so wanted to use it on this. I have about 3/4 of a tub left
