After 3 bottles of white wine whatever meal you choose is pretty irrelevant mate.
Hey all,
Right currently im on my 5th or 6th week of a cut that has me eating every 2-3 hours a meal of something along the lines of 150g turkey/chicken with 75g of wholemeal pasta and some veg. Also i have a 'protein pancake' consisting of 6 egg whites, 2 yolks, 75g oats and a packet of sugar free jelly (or raisins), and bedtime extreme before bed. Training 3-4 times a week and doing low intensity cardio for 30-60mins on off days. I've made good progress, getting toward my 6-pack
But my question is, its a friends birthday tonight and we are going to an indian restaraunt when you can take your own booze for a big meal and a lot of drinking. I plan to get drink 2 or 3 bottles of white wine (as ive been very restricted on booze recently and i have an exam in 2 weeks so its a last let my hair down). Do i go for a healthier tandoori chicken (baked) with some rice (or similar)? Or do i go for an all out cheat night and get my favorite of a lamb madras with rice and a peshwari (sultanas and coconut) nan bread?
I'm going to be training about an hour before we go so it'll be almost a pwo meal.
Thanks,
Tom

If i were you i'd go for the full blown cheat night, why do things by half? lol.
Not sure how beneficial it would be to you to do that but if you have been very strict over the past few weeks with very little amount of cheat meals then it might do you good to treat yourself. Think of it as a huge re-feed lol.
I'm sure i read a post on here by a guy not long ago who was in a similar situation to yours and found that after a heavy weekend drinking and eating he actually lost weight.

Is it a proper indian restaurant or a bangladeshi/pakistani one?
If its proper, you should be fine - the food should be light and tasty anyway. If not, or if its geared towards western tastes (most likely!) then ask them to go light on the salt and oil regardless of what you order. For some reason, I've noticed a lot of apparently Indian restaurants serve food that is so different to what it should be (loads of salt, food colouring and oil)!
You've been real strict with the diet so a one time bender might do you some good! I would go all out, but then think about the kcals in the gym the next day for motivation!

Lol yeah i know its going to make little difference to the wine. Perhaps i'll go for the nan and the curry without the rice (cut out the high cal bit). Who knows i may well just feel like a bunch of tandoori when i get down there.
Yeah i think i read the thread about the guy who had a binge and lost weight but it seemed dubious whether it was the effect of a refeed or just dehydration. I certainaly expect the water under my skin to be less tommorow morning from the booze, giving the short term appearance of fat loss.
I'm pretty sure its a garden variety indian restaurant with lots of oiley curries, an interesting thought though, if they were to offer something lighter but tasty that would be wonderful.
Thanks for the advice!

Me personally, i absolutley adore indian food so i'd go for whatever i really fancied.
I'd go for some greasy aloo palak, a big dosa with ghee something hot with nice creamy yoghurt and a indian pale ale.
It's pretty stupid to binge excessively, just have a few things you enjoy, in my experience if you go OTT it's never as enjoyable as enjoying yourself a bit but keeping things sensible.

omg, to me your known as RI (Ripped Indian now lol)
you actually know your indian food, most people i speak to say "i had tandori chicken" etc. good to hear people try all thats there (even if meat isn't present lol)
and mate have what you want, and 3 wine bottles is immense! i went out for a mates birthday in leeds last night, and i haven't been out in AGES i mean like this year at all, haven't even drank (and i can drink sooo much when i do) but i limited myself, was so proudi don't want to lose all my gains, a few drinks is ok though, but too many is worthless!
In many way i think meat actually spoils (traditional) indian food.
As many people in india are traditionally vegetarian, or at least have very low consumption of meat on average, the dishes that have been invented simply work best with the traditional staples available, be it dal, traditional flat breads or more recent additions (in terms of history) potatoes etc.
Generally these are starchy foods that work well with a creamy yet spicy curry (curry means gravy or sauce IIRC), the creaminess being obtained from vegetable oil or ghee.
I'm not sure what it is about meat and indian cooking i don't like, i think i prefer meats to have more of their natural flavour, as cooked in traditional european cuisine (roasted, with little seasoning) when you chuck it in a curry it just becomes a lump of chewy flesh that does nothing for the mouthfeel of the dish.
I think delicate fish curries work reasonably well, with fish's soft texture, dishes from east india are good in this respect.
I very rarely have indian food cooked for me (don't go out much) and prefer to cook my own dishes but when both ordering or cooking myself i tend to go for the vegetarian options, or if i feel like an animal protein source i use prawns or white fish.

Well i had 2 bottles of wine, poppadums, a lamb madras, rice and a peshwari nan, then went on to have a load more drinks at a bar (finishing with a shot of rum with absinthe). Can't remember the last part of the evening and ended up bringing it all up again. Fair to say i felt absolutely awful this morning but had a great time

Sounds like you went all out then.
Well, despite wasting food, if you bought it all up at least it wont have gone on your gut, although the negative health effects of being ill are prob much worse than this concern.
Straight back into strict regime?
