I am on the 4th day of the v diet at the moment. I am using MP Max total protein XS for my shakes.

I am about to give up because of the constant diarrhea. I understood that this was to be expected for the first couple of days but its getting on now and I am seriously losing my motivation. In fact I had to bring forward my solid meal for the weak just to get stop going to the toilet.

Is it too much fibre that is causing this? I do think there is a lot of milled flaxseed in total protein and having 5 shakes a day with flaxeed is too much.

Perhaps switching to Milk and Whey protein might help.

Was_once_fat_dave mentioned diarrhea in his journal but it seems to have stopped for him after a couple of days.

    Please advice.

if you switch to milk you will lose the point of V-diet! (hardly any carbs, and just enough calories to not catobolise your muscles)
milk will bump up alot of calories

someone on here not long ago had severe diarrhea from just having shakes for the first time! so stick to it mate, it will get better!

My diahrrea packed in after the first meal, I did however drop back on the fibre intake from that point too.

Are you supplementing with fibre aswell as the flaxseed, perhaps cut back on one of them?

    Hi assassin,

I started the v diet on Monday, but using total protein (not XS). I havent suffered from diarrhoea as yet. Not sure what the difference might be, possibly the extras that are in the XS version.

    thanks for the replies

I am not on any extra fibre supplements.

Surprisingly after the solid meal my motion was good as normal. As soon as I went back on shakes today its back with a vengence.

I really want to do this diet. A week on now and if it was not for the diarrhea I would be really enjoying it.

Perhaps I should try the total protein non MP Max version but MP don't publish the type of protein ratios, or buy whey isolate, MPC, mix them myself.

I am at a loss for ideas and my backside hurts like hell.

isolate is much more expensive (and will have even quicker absorption = more poo-poo)
just get a blend, or keep trying it for a week or so more, then switch?

I havnt really read much about the V diet but SURELY having noting but shakes and one solid meal per week is asking for muscle loss?!

And also as soon as you re introduce solid food surely you will just gain half the weight back?
