I've been eating a lot of NZ lambs liver recently and it occured to me that I may be risking overdosing on vitamins A and D through the quantity that I'm eating. I googled this but didn't find anything useful, so just wondering what people consider safe amounts of liver to consume regularly.

oh yeah fine, I'm tired a lot of the time but my nails haven't gone brittle or anything. My concern is that I may accumulate toxic levels of these micronutrients as they are fat soluble and the body stores them, so even if I'm alright now I'd like to know what kind of amount is considered the maximum safe quantity of liver to eat on a regular basis.

I think we have gone over this ground before but I can't track down the exact thread! In the meantime read this article:
The Liver Files: Recipes and Lore About Our Most Important Sacred Food
The relevant paragraph - in relation to your question/concern - is quoted below:
    Quote Quote
Thus, unless you are an Arctic explorer, it is very difficult to develop vitamin A toxicity from liver. The putative toxic dose of 100,000 IU per day is contained in two-and-one-half 100-gram servings of duck liver or about three 100-gram servings of beef liver. From the work of Weston Price, we can assume that the amount in primitive diets was about 50,000 IU per day.
So, unless you are eating those sorts of quantities of liver PER DAY on a regular basis, you are unlikely to develop vitamin A toxicity.

Thanks, Nu- For the past week I've been eating half a kilo lambs liver every other day, so it looks like I'd better tone it down.

Good to see a real carnivore.

Vitamin A toxicity is varied between different people and a high intake of vitamin D will be somewhat protective of vit A toxicity.

250g every day on average is pushing it tho.

Cut it down to 1 kilo a week total or something.
