Anyone got any experience with this?
I just started... need some advice. Can I still use carb drinks before, during after exercise etc? Protein shakes during the day?
    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Ive heard a bit about the warrior diet and i think its basically training on empty.

Undereating in the day and overeating at night. I am personally not a fan of things labelled as diets. I dont know what happened to just eating lol, thats worked fine for me!

To me this seems to mirror the life of many everyday people. Lots of people dont eat much in the day and then pig out when they get home and gain a lot of weight. You need to be very strict with what you do eat during that phase.

Having not tried it i cant give an opinion but to me it seems a bit.... extreme.

The Warrior diet approach is to undereat for 20 hours of the day and over eat for 4 hours a day. So protein shakes etc are ok during the day aslong as you keep the total calories low, i can't remember the calorie reccomendations for the undereating phase but i'd imagine it's in the range of 15-25% of your total daily calories, so 4-500kcals in protein shakes, snacks etc is probably ok during the undereating phase (don't qoute me on that though). With regards to the carbs pre and during training, i wouldn't bother; just place your over eating phase directly after training and you won't have to worry about all that because you'll be getting 75% of all your calories post workout; a carb/protein shake won't give you any benifit.

It's not extreme at all... it's not a 'normal' way to live by societys standards, and it may seem conflicting with mainstream advice; but the whole intermittent fasting buisness is pretty well established scientifically as a perfectly healthy approach and is somewhat superior to the standard 6 meals a tupperwear box diet for health and weight mantinence.

The principle is fine, but the practicalities for an athlete or anyone who trains hard make it difficult to get in enopugh calories each day for recovery and performance. I did the WD for about 2 months but started losing alot of muscle. Ori Hofmekler gets alot of flak for his stuff, but i think he deserves some respect because he was probably the first person to make the health and the medical industry sit up and take a serious look at IF, as well as inspire alot of the IF proponents appearing today. The fact that Ori looks like an ashen corpse doesnt help, but i think thats somewhat due to the ravages of his past military training. Ori is a good writer and his books are entertaining and give food for thought, but they lack alot of sceintific credentials.

Eat Stop Eat and LeanGains are better options for athletes or gym goers. Fast5 by Bert Herring is also worth a look and you can download his ebook for free.

Doesn't seem like a bad thing then... its going pretty well. Not too hungry during the day and don't feel bloated at night and no issues sleeping.
I'll go for 2 protein shakes then... as I'm not having anything other than water... My calorie intake should be ok.
Any ideas on what to have at night to make it work properly? Also, any supplements you can recommend for during the day?
    Thanks all :-)

Not sure if you were asking about supplements or just in general at night, but before bed cottage cheese is probably the highest recommendation I could give,it's high in casein and will repair you all night long, and it doesn't interrupt sleep, any sleep stack containing it will work wonders, and especially if you ever do early morning exercise really made a difference for me, 100g cottage cheese, 10g oats 10g flax seeds (ish) works wonders.

If you were asking about supplements sorry

Is there any reason why you can't fit those protein shakes into your 4 hour eating window? Having these in the 20 hour 'fast' is kind of defeating the purpose.
