Ok, after a chat with my trainer i've been put on the paleo diet! I'm finding it reali easy and i'm seriously loving it - i've even given up chewing gum!. However, today is my third day and i've noticed i'm getting headaches and dizzy spells especially if i get up quickly.

The biggest change ive made to my diet is eliminating all sugar. I was never a carb eater so thats not reali changed, but i lived off sugar and artificial sugar eg, diet coke, sweets, coffee/tea with sugar, more sweets, and more fizzy drinks.

So i'm assuming my body is in shock at the moment and it will eventually get used to this new healthy/organic diet....right?

Also, i HATE drinking water! And im struggling to drink more than 2 cups a day at the moment so im obviously dehydrated which is also not helping with the headaches, is there anything cold i can drink which isnt plain water??

    Thank you

I drink a lot of tea, can't have enough tea! ice'd tea perhaps? lol

I believe your light headedness when you get up could be due to low sodium levels in the diet. It's extremely common in diets like paleo and low carb.

Cut up a cucumber and put it in a jug of water, in the fridge.

Then you have a slightly flavoured water...its pretty good.

Maybe get a water filter to keep in the fridge? Is it just tap water that you don't like or any type of water? I don't really enjoy drinking water but i make myself because it's important to stay hydrated. When i worked in Greece last summer i didn't drink enough and was dizzy and light headed, and sometimes felt like i was floating or about to faint! It was fun for a while but not every day ha.

I dont like bottled water either - unless its the flavored type, which is no doubt full of sugar. I tend not to drink at the moment because the thought of drinking water puts me off altogether!

Zeigler i'm gonna try your idea but with sliced lemon.

    What about sparkling water??

Do you think the dizzy spells and headaches is mainly due to dehydration? Or could it also be the sudden change in diet?

    Wrong.

Tesco, Asda...they all sell sugar free water with different flavours. I always buy lemon & lime one. 77p.

Dizzy spells will pass. Try salting food more (paleo flushes the retained water, thus some minerals along with it)

Put a slice of lemon or lime in your water to give it flavour the natural way. Dont' buy sugar free flavourse water as mentioned above becuase it will contain sweetners.
